• There are 3 parallel all day workshops from 0815-1730 hrs.

• You can choose to attend any one of the workshops.Please give your preference 1,2 and 3.

• Each workshop will be of small groups to get more hands-on experience.

• These interactive workshops have a comprehensive approach, taught by expert and renowned faculty who have been conducting very popular workshops nationally.

• Early registration is encouraged to avoid disappointment.


 
 


Workshop A: Advanced Airway Management Workshop
Friday 1st October 2010
Course Directors: Dr Mary Mushambi and Dr Perihan Ali

Course objectives include
Small groups, hands-on sessions exclusively focusing on the difficult and failed airway, emphasising rescue strategies and devices.

To improve your competence and confidence in managing unanticipated difficult airway.


Workshop Stations include

• Oxford Box and Tracheobronchial Tree
• Nasal Fibreoptic Intubation
• Oral Fibreoptic Intubation
• Awake Fibreoptic Intubation
• Intubating LMA / C-Trach
• LMA and Aintree Intubating Catheter
• Double Lumen Tube
• Cannula Cricothyroidotomy and Trans-tracheal
Ventilation
• Airtraq Disposable Optical Laryngoscope
• Non-technical skills




• For each of the workshop: 5 CPD points from the Royal College of Anaesthetists.

• Registration fees include lunch, refreshments and course material.

Workshop B: Ultrasound Guided Regional Anaesthesia Workshop
Friday 1st October 2010
Workshop is facilitated by: Society for Ultrasound in Anaesthesia

Course objectives include
• Discuss the basic fundamentals of ultrasound
physics and instrumentation

• Supervised hands-on scanning on live models

• Demonstrate techniques for performing ultrasound
guided nerve blocks

• Practical tips and tricks for ultrasound guided blocks

Workshop Stations include
• Upper limb I : Above clavicle
• Upper limb II : Below clavicle
• Lower limb I : Femoral and Obturator
• Lower limb II : Sciatic, Popliteal
• Epidural and Spinal
• Paravertebral and Lumbar plexus
• Lower limb III : Ankle
• Probe and needling




• For each of the workshop: 5 CPD points from the Royal College of Anaesthetists.

Workshop C: Ultrasound Guided Vascular Access, FATE, FAST, 3D anatomy of the heart and TOE simulator
Friday 1st October 2010
Workshop is facilitated by: Society for Ultrasound in Anaesthesia

Course objectives include
• Discuss the basic fundamentals of ultrasound
physics and instrumentation

• Supervised hands on scanning on live models

• Basic transthoracic imaging, haemodynamic state assessment

• Learn 3D anatomy of the heart and perform a true-to-life TOE examination.

Workshop Stations include
• Internal jugular vein level 1
• Internal jugular vein level 2
• Subclavian vein
• Peripheral vascular access: arterial and venous
• FATE (Focused Assessed Transthoracic Echo)
• FAST (Focused Assessed Sonography in Trauma)
• Ultrasound machine
• 3D Anatomy of the heart and TOE (Transoesophageal Echocardiography) simulator
